A man who made a fake call to police saying there was a gunman at a Wanganui primary school is going to jail.
Bevan Lee Stoneman, 48, called 111 last Thursday and told police: "There's a joker walking around the school with a gun ... and he looks f***ing angry."
He ended the call and there were "numerous" attempts to contact him again, Judge David Cameron told Whanganui District Court yesterday.
Stoneman pleaded guilty to charges of endangering life, safety or health of others through criminal nuisance, and failing to supply particulars.
A total of 30 armed police, including armed offenders squad members, swooped on Churton School, which went into lockdown at about 1pm.
