The man who is alleged to have seriously injured another man by hitting him with his car can now be named.
Name suppression lapsed for Michael Robert Pollard, 61, when he appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. His lawyer, Peter Brosnahan, did not apply for further name suppression.
Pollard faces two charges - one of committing grievous bodily harm, and one of driving while disqualified. He did not enter a plea to the two charges and was remanded on bail until November 15.
The charges follow an incident outside Whanganui's Red Lion Inn around 2.25am on October 22 in which a man was hit by a car and left lying on Anzac Parade.
Police said Pollard did not stop after the incident.
