They came from near and far to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the barque Blenheim from Greenock, the first ship to bring migrants from Scotland to New Zealand in 1840.
Descendants of the Grants, Campbells, Camerons and McGregors were at the Wanganui War Memorial Hall on Tuesday night to celebrate the historic voyage that brought their forefathers to this country.
"We had 182 people in attendance, and they came from almost everywhere between Auckland and Christchurch, and there were seven descendants who came from Sydney," said coordinator Roz Grant.
Roz and her husband Ewen still live at the Turakina property where Alexander Grant and his wife Mary (a Cameron he met aboard the Blenheim) settled in 1850.
Mrs Grant said it was a wonderful celebration and the haggis was addressed by Colin McKenzie, who came from Thames especially for the occasion.
