The Chronicle has set up a bank account to help a 65-year-old Wanganui paraplegic who lost thousands of dollars stolen by his caregiver.

On Wednesday we reported the shocking elder-abuse case of Chris (not his real name), a city-centre rest-home resident.

His caregiver, who was supposed to have been looking after his bills, used his bank card to steal thousands, leaving Chris - who is confined to his bed - frantic that he would be evicted from his rest home for unpaid bills.

The Chronicle account is with the ANZ bank and donations to help Chris can be made there.

We have already kicked it off.

Those who wish to donate should use the reference 61976445 and remark CHRIS FUND.

The account is: 06 0287 0590510 14.

It is based at ANZ, Victoria Ave, Wanganui under APN New Zealand Ltd (Wanganui Newspapers).

Alternatively donations can be made at the Chronicle office at 100 Guyton St on the corner of Guyton and St Hill Sts.
