The Whanganui District Health Board has just missed four of the six national health targets for the April to June period.
While it achieved 113 per cent against the target of 100 per cent for improved access to elective surgery, the health board missed its targets for increased immunisation, faster cancer treatment, better help for smokers to Quito, and shorter stays in emergency departments.
Chief executive Julie Patterson said there was a silver lining to the results.
Increased immunisation was 94 per cent against a target of 95, and was up two per cent from the previous quarter, which Mrs Patterson said was a tribute to Whanganui's immunisation team.
"It also shows us that the number of families declining immunisations is finally dropping," she said.
