One of the most exciting duels on the streets of Wanganui yesterday was for the Suzuki Series Supermoto title.
Tauranga's Duncan Hart (YZF450) came into the final round of the series on the Cemetery Circuit ahead on points with Wanganui pair Aden Brown and Richie Dibben second and third respectively.
However, the points allocation was controversial after the two earlier series rounds at Hampton Downs and Manfeild.
Dibben had been the clear leader going into the second leg at Manfeild, but a disqualification after illegally remounting after a fall stripped him of valuable points. Remounting is not allowed in this class.
Then it was discovered Hart had apparently fallen and remounted during round one at Hampton Downs, but officials had not witnessed the alleged event and it was not reported within the mandatory 20-minute protest period. He went unpunished.
