Five Nga Tawa students have new summer styles after a group haircut yesterday.
The "chop the mop" was a two-part fundraiser; the girls are seeking donations to go to the New Zealand Cancer Society while the cut hair lengths will be donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths programme to be made into wigs for women having cancer treatment.
Year 12 students Ella Medlicott, Becs Symes, Ally Munn, Amy Norris-Hibbert and Jordan Lawrence aim to raise $2500 and so far have $1200.
The hair was cut in the Marton school's hall yesterday afternoon.
Family and friends cut the hair initially while two hairdressers from Just Cuts tidied things up afterwards.
