Two Wanganui Boys and Girls Club gymnasts have qualified for the national championships in October after solid performances on the trampoline in Waipukurau last weekend.
The club had three gymnasts competing at the Ricochet Invitational Trampoline competition on Saturday and head coach Kelly Taylor-Ward said all three performed well.
In the 13-14-year-old girls category, Michaela Davey came fourth on trampoline and fifth on double mini trampoline (DMT). In the 13-14-year-old boys category, Jamie O'Hagan came third on trampoline and third on DMT, achieving high enough scores in both disciplines to qualify for the national championships in October.
Keira Bennett, in her first trampoline competition, came fourth on trampoline and third on DMT in the 11-12-year-old girls category. She qualified for the national championships on DMT.
The gymnasts are now training for their next competition in Gisborne on May 2 and are aiming to add more difficulty to their routines.
