A stroll up the left side of Guyton St from Victoria Ave to Campbell St can reap rich rewards for art lovers.
Printmaker Anthony Davies has his Hotspur lithography studio at No 72 and although he has no gallery there, he is happy to see people by appointment and willhave an exhibition of his work for Artists' Open Studios in March.
Sue Cook's gallery at 68a is open afternoons from Monday to Friday or by appointment to view her current Objets d'art exhibition.
Rena Star's Gallery on Guyton at No 62 is preparing for a Vintage Weekend special with Steaming Ahead - a group exhibition by Copper, Cogs and Corsets featuring steampunk-inspired creations.
The opening is on January 19 but passers-by can get a sneak peek through the gallery front window.
Paige's Book Gallery on the corner of Guyton and Wicksteed Sts always offers a warm welcome from Lesley Stead and Rochelle Handley.
Paige's will join Artists' Open Studios this year with a selection of whimsical works by Tanya Hayton, and Brain Food for Babies will feature a selection of nursery decor including prints, mobiles and friezes.
Steve Selfe opened Expressions Gallery at No 56 in May last year and some of the most inventive artists in Whanganui have their work for sale there.
The current exhibition Expansion of Light features lighting fixtures that double as art installations and mosaic-clad mannequins, musical instruments and clocks have been incorporated in the designs.

Peter Shepherd, Gavin Buxton, Ross Fallon, Steve Selfe and Warren Schwebel have all created lamps that project light in "wondrous ways".
Jeweller Kirsty Winton moved into the former Rayner Brothers Gallery at No 52 Guyton St in June last year and named the workshop/retail space Zaidies.
Her bespoke pieces are created with gemstones and mixed media set in silver or gold and she does a lot of commission work.
"I love creating personal pieces for people and I enjoy working in this space where I can talk to people while I am working," she says.

U.G.C. Hair and Beauty, tattooists Inksmiths Whanganui and Louise Herdman Mosaics complete the "arts precinct" feel of the block.
"It's really nice to be amongst all these different art forms," says Kirsty Winton.
"It creates a really nice vibe on the street."
Louise Herdman at No 50 will be sharing her space with artists Esther Newrick, Carolyn Stephens and Joe Yates for a multi-media show during Artists' Open Studios in March.
