It was a day of rejoicing and celebration as the annual Kai Iwi Pig Hunters Club four-day hunt culminated at the Waitotara Tavern yesterday.
From Friday to Monday the hunters returned from the hills and bush toting their hefty trophies.
And the kids had rolled in with their prizes - possums and a few long, stiff eels.
Organiser Popeye Brasting said it had been a marvellous weekend with the usual Kai Iwi hunter's gusto and enthusiasm.
"They're out there from Friday determined to get that big one to hang on the hook with pride."
