A Whanganui dairy owner was threatened with a gun and robbed yesterday afternoon.

Whanganui police say a lone male walked into the Durie Hill Store in Portal St about 2.10pm and brandished a pistol before stealing goods from the store.

The man is described as wearing a long-sleeved black top, black pants, and carrying a bag of some sort. He had his head covered with a multi-coloured motorcycle helmet.

After stealing the goods, he ran from the scene towards Durie Hill School. The shop owner was not physically hurt but is extremely distressed.

Police would like to hear from anybody who saw a man fitting this description hanging around, or going into, the dairy, or running away from it, yesterday afternoon.
