The New Zealand Over 50's cricket team and their Property Brokers United offspinner Martin Pennefather were able to square their 50-over series with Australia after a four wicket win at Conway Oval in Brightwater on Thursday.
Cyclone Gita saw the cancellation of the second match of the series on Tuesday, after Australia's 13 run win in the opening match on Monday.
In Brightwater, New Zealand bowled the Australians out for 116, with Andrew Nuttall following up his four wicket bag in the first game with figures of 3-14.
Former Black Cap Richard Petrie took 3-16, while Pennefather was conservative with his deliveries, conceeding only 13 runs from five overs.
In reply, New Zealand was 85-5 after 26 overs, remembering how they fell short trying to reach 151 on Monday.
