The Masters Games provides a opportunity to catch up with old friends but, for a bunch of former swimmers, it was the birth of a full-scale reunion.
Former Wanganui man John Gray returned home from his adopted Canada for the Games and in the process has ended up helping put together a plan for a Gonville Swimming Club Reunion.
After a few days and a couple of phone calls Mr Gray and friend Don Adams had plenty of former clubmates interested.
The club, which was on Tawa St, closed in the 80s and its former members have not reunited since.
"It was a big thing in those days," Mr Gray said. "There were 200 people on club nights."
