Book lovers have helped boost the funds of the Whanganui branch of St Vincent de Paul.
Henry Newrick, publisher of the glossy, 224-page coffee table book on the Whanganui region, From the Sea to the Mountain, was at the St Vincent op shop to present a cheque for $350 to the charity which aids the vulnerable in the community.
The money comes from advance orders of the book which was offered to Chronicle readers at a discount price of $19.95, with a proportion of each sale going to St Vincent de Paul.
Copies of the book arrive in Whanganui in three weeks and will go on sale at a full price of $24.95.
