Whanganui Learning Centre is offering a professional development opportunity for educators and health professionals.
Two researchers, Alison Sutton and Susan Morton, will be holding a workshop at the end of this month.
Ms Sutton runs the Talking Matters project in South Auckland. Recognising that a lot of the concerns have been arising in communities because of the poor language development of our children, she will share the findings of her work and provide information about what can be done to promote better talking.
Dr Morton is leading a longitudinal study in Auckland called Growing Up in New Zealand. This research is similar to the Dunedin Study in that more than 6000 children and their families are being tracked over the years. Dr Morton will share the results of this study.
The workshop will be held at the War Memorial Centre from 3.30pm to 5pm on October 31. Entry is by gold coin donation. Please RSVP by email to wlearningc@gmail.com.
