Some Wanganui and Rangitikei residents remain without power following Monday's high winds.
A Powerco spokesman said as of yesterday afternoon about 50 properties in the wider Wanganui region were still waiting to be reconnected to the grid. Powerco had expected them to be reconnected by Wednesday night but high winds that evening had hampered efforts to restore supply to all properties in Wanganui and Rangitikei.
Field crews had been repairing damage to Powerco's electricity network yesterday after another blast of wind late yesterday caused more faults.
Powerco said the two-day outages were on its low-voltage network, affecting small pockets of customers throughout the region.
Monday's high winds had damaged parts of Powerco's network across the lower and central North Island, initially cutting power to 11,000 customers.
