There was delicious food full of feijoas and a session on how to turn your feijoa skins into a drink at Feijoabulous, held in the Harakeke Room at the Whanganui Resource Recovery Centre on Sunday.
Huge surplus feijoas were brought along and shared with residents who do not have their own tree.
And although there were few entries in the competitions, the heaviest feijoa on the table weighed 220 grams.
On Sunday, local feijoa lovers joined Whanganui Environment Base volunteers in a celebration of the feijoa with games, a quiz and dancing.
"The event is quite special," says MC Margi Keys. "It's actually unique in New Zealand."
