Wanganui's first feijoa festival will be held on May 3.
The Wanganui Chronicle recently told the story of Lyn Pearson, who hates feijoas but decided to run with a friend's idea of a local feijoa festival.
"I don't like feijoas but when a friend suggested [a festival] I thought this sounded so much fun, and other people did, too," Mrs Pearson said.
The festival is called Feijoabulous, and will be held on May 3, between 10am-3pm, in the education room at the Whanganui Resource Recovery Centre, 83 Maria Place.
While the programme is yet to be finalised, it's likely to include feijoa tree planting, competition to find the smallest, largest, and ugliest feijoa, feijoa recipe competition, feijoa-themed poetry and book readings, making feijoa-themed art and others. Entry to Feijoabulous is by one feijoa per person.
