Farmers is turning 100 - but Wanganui Hospital will receive the centennial gift.
To celebrate the hundredth year of operation for Farmers Trading Company, each store around the country has selected a charity and will match, dollar for dollar, the amount of money raised by, or for, that organisation.
In Wanganui, those funds will go Funds raised for the will go toward furnishing Wanganui Hospital's transit lounge - an area for discharged patients to wait to be collected from the hospital.
Farmers Wanganui store manager Kevin McAffee said the project was a great opportunity to support the community.
"In a time of recession it's good to see Farmers Trading Company is stepping up to support communities," he said.
Mr McAffee said fundraising opportunities would include a formal dinner on July 4, held at the Grand Hotel.
Tickets are available from Farmers Wanganui, with a price tag of $30 a head.
Grand Hotel manager Neville Gorrie had offered the lounge area of the premises for free to assist with fundraising activity.

Mr McAffee said Karen Severensen, chairwoman for the Farmers Hospital 100 project committee had "donated" much of her time to help make the fundraising venture possible.
Local businessman Ray McDonald had also been actively involved in assisting the project.
Whanganui District Health Board communications advisor Jo Priestley said a hospital bed race down the main street was an idea being considered for fundraising.
Wanganui Hospital general manager Jeanette Black said it was a "wonderful gesture" that the hospital would be the recipient of gifts for Farmers' 100th birthday.
