A spokesman for police said they believed she was in the Manawatū. Houston also had links to the Whanganui and Taranaki regions.
“We would ask anyone who knows where she is or has any information which may assist police in locating her to please contact us via 105 quoting file number 240719/8895.
“You can also share information anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Houston phoned the Herald disputing the police statement that she was on the run, claiming she had been arrested yesterday and had received a court summons. She asked for the Herald’s story to be pulled.
However, police said she had not been arrested and was still wanted in connection with the scams.
Houston said: “All this s*** needs to come offline. Now my name is mud all across the country. I don’t know why this has now been passed all over the news. How is this everybody else around the country’s information to know?”
