Wanganui police have today raided a Chinese restaurant and found scores of cannabis plants.
The raid this morning saw officers retrieve a large amount of cannabis plants and drug growing paraphernalia from the Beijing restaurant and takeaway in St Hill St. Bystanders spoken to by the Chronicle said there had been at least two trailer loads of plants and equipment taken away from the scene by police.
One person at the scene estimated there were six or seven police vehicles there throughout the morning.
Police said a 52-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure and will appear at the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday.
