Farmers are invited to help raise funds for the Cancer Society by donating a sheep at a hogget fair in Feilding.
Stock companies PGG Wrightson and Carrfields are working with the Feilding Sale Yards and the Cancer Society's Central Districts Division to support cancer patients in the Whanganui, Rangitīkei and Manawatū regions.
The money from each sheep donated at the Feilding Sale Yards' fair on Wednesday, August 15, will go to the Cancer Society for patients in the Central Districts region.
"Despite receiving no government funding, and relying solely on donations and bequests to continue our work, we remain the only charity to address all cancers," Cancer Society Central Districts Division chief executive Debra Elgar said.
"With over 350 rural cancer patients per year in the Central Districts region seeking support from the Cancer Society, it is great to see the rural community get behind this event."
