An art auction could be the final push in the massive fundraising undertaking that has gone into securing a new swimming pool in Patea, and Whanganui MP Chester Borrows and South Taranaki Mayor Ross Dunlop are lending their support.
The auction will be held at Patea Area School tomorrow and features both children's and adults' art up for sale. The children's auction will start at 5pm with the adult items on sale from 7pm.
Mr Borrows isn't giving an original painting, because he said he didn't have any current original works.
"The oil painting I did is a view of Ohawe Beach looking north, and when it was finished I had a few prints made of it. I'm giving the auction one of those," he said.
He said he was still working on another event for the pool fundraising which could see the Parliamentary rugby team playing against an invitation team at Patea in the near future.
The pool, to be built in the Patea Domain, has an estimated cost of $1.3 million. The South Taranaki District Council put up $633,000 with the community left to raise the remainder.
