Young Wanganui musicians gathered at Holy Family Church on Sunday for a special concert commemorating Wanganui musician, the late Pat Devine.
Pictured is the vocal group Aria - Iutita Kilmister, Morag O'Malley, Shelley Walls and accompanist Kathryn Ennis - and their young guests, including Emma O'Connor (piano), Matthew Huirua (euphonium), Matthew Robertson and Michael Cogan (vocal duet), the Nga Tawa chamber music group, and St Mary's ukulele group.
The Pat Devine Scholarship Concert is an annual event and the proceeds go into the scholarship fund to provide a year's tuition fees for the scholarship recipient. Application forms for the scholarship are available from the Holy Family Church office in Tawhero St.
Mrs Devine, who died in January 2010, aged 82, was well-known in Wanganui as a piano teacher and organist for the Holy Family Church. In 2005, she received the Benemerenti medal from the Pope in recognition of her 50 years of church service.
