When Kristal Hartell's daughter was 10 years old, she was bullied so badly that it affected her mental health.
"It wasn't physical bullying - it was emotional, but it was very bad," Ms Hartell said.
"It took me a long to realise what was going on with my daughter, but when I did I was worried about what she would do to herself."
Ms Hartell, a self-described "battler" for vulnerable people, took the situation to the principal at her daughter's school.
"The school was really wonderful. That was when I first found out about Pink Shirt Day."
