Wanganui students of ballroom and Latin dance had a rare opportunity to learn from one of New Zealand's best at the weekend.
Jonny Williams, a professional dancer known for his appearances on popular television show Dancing With The Stars, was in Wanganui to take private classes, hold workshops and be a judge in a dance competition. Mr Williams was in Wanganui at the invitation of Mark Glastonbury from Glastonbury Dance Studio.
Mr Williams had a busy weekend schedule. He held private classes for Mr Glastonbury's students and public workshops, and judged a lower North Island inter-studio dance competition at Wanganui Intermediate School.
Mr Glastonbury said Mr Williams was "a real drawcard" for the students and they had found his teaching invaluable. "It was also great for me, as a teacher, to have an international competitive dancer such as Jonny here."
Mr Glastonbury said Mr Williams had told him he was keen to come back to Wanganui to teach. "But he has a very busy schedule, so we're not sure when that will be." He was grateful to Wanganui Intermediate School for providing a venue for the dance competitions.
