A Wanganui farmer is asking cyclists to steer clear of flood-damaged roads while repairs are under way.
Grant Deroles said the Rangitatau end of Brunswick Rd and Rangitatau East Rd had suffered "horrific" damage in the June floods and many parts were down to single-lane traffic.
He acknowledged that the Brunswick Rd area was popular with cyclists but hoped they would stay away for a while in the interests of safety.
A near-miss with a cyclist yesterday prompted the sheep and beef farmer's concerns.
He said trucks from maintenance company Downer were on the roads as part of the repair work, while there were a lot of logging trucks around and farmers like himself were using the roads more to move livestock after the floods.
