A Wanganui woman has died as a result of a freak cycling accident on St Johns Hill.
Donna Vivienne Guy, 61, is believed to have been cycling down a walking track between Parkes Ave and Peakes Rd when she collided with a group of pedestrians about 8.30pm on Tuesday night.
The path is a commonly used shortcut to St Johns Hill School.
A Central District Police communications spokesman said Ms Guy fell off her bike and hit her head.
She died at the scene as a result of serious head injuries.
