Crash cuts power to more than 200 Whanganui properties

A car struck a power pole on Brunswick Rd on Wednesday morning cutting power to Aramoho properties.

More than 200 Whanganui properties are without power after a vehicle struck a power pole in Aramoho.

Powerco is working to restore electricity to 229 properties in the suburb after it was cut on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesperson said the driver has not been located after the Brunswick Rd crash was reported at 5.01am.

"The power pole was still standing, but on a slant, so it caused a small blockage of Brunswick Road," the spokesperson said.

"It looks as though that has been cleared since, the driver has not been found and Police are still investigating."

No injuries have been reported.

Powerco expects electricity to be restored by 3pm.
