Geoff Follett was getting to grips with some scary props yesterday in readiness for Mainstreet's Halloween on Thursday in Wakefield Chambers (the old Community House) on Ridgway St.

An Amdram Theatre troupe of actors will be the ghosts and gremlins to scare those who dare to enter the darkened building.

Two levels of the building will be dressed in the scariest-best, and it's free.

It will be open to all from 5pm-7pm only. Trick or Treating for under 5's is 3pm-3.30pm all ages 3.30pm-5pm on the Ave.

There's trick or treat on Victoria Ave where 20 retailers are supporting the event which is now in its third year. However, two retailers will be promoting the "light" side, preferring not to enter the darkness of Halloween.
