More than 350 people attended the Countdown Charity Ball on Saturday night.
The ball was held at the Whanganui War Memorial Centre. Guests were treated to dinner, live music and a DJ, and dancing.
The Countdown Ball, which has been going for about six years, is the Whanganui store's contribution to the Countdown Kids' Charity. The money raised from the ball goes to the charity.
Whanganui store manager Adam Georgiou said all of Countdown's 180 stores run their own charity event - and the Whanganui ball was one of the most successful.
"There's one store that does a golf event, for example. But our ball is usually in the top three events for money raised. It's really well supported by the community."
