A special conservation day was held last week at Bushy Park.
One of Bushy Park's volunteer education co-ordinators, Robin Paul, said around 35 Year 5 students got to try a range of activities at the wildlife sanctuary.
"They did art, studied wetlands, predators, habitats, plants and invertebrates," Mr Paul said.
"A third of the students had been to Bushy Park before, either with their families or as part of a school trip. So for most of the children this was their first time."
The students were from Carlton, St John's Hill, Westmere, Arahunga, Brunswick, Faith City, Whanganui East, Upokongaro and Mosston schools, as well as several homeschool students.
