Concern has been expressed about the small number of Wanganui businesses that are taking advantage of ultra-fast broadband.
Wanganui is one of the first regions in New Zealand to get ultra-fast broadband, but few companies are exploiting the higher speed and greater data capacity it offers them.
As of December, 31 per cent of Wanganui and Manawatu's fibre optic network infrastructure had been built, but only eight per cent of small and medium-sized businesses have connected to it, according to a survey this week.
Whanganui Employers' Chamber of Commerce president Craig Hanford noted that uptake had been sluggish.
Wanganui was one of the first provinces to roll out ultra-fast broadband, he said.
