Wanganui may be the only place in New Zealand that celebrates the Feast of Christ the King with an elaborate procession.
That is the suggestion of Father Louis Bochkoltz of the traditional Catholic St Anthony's Parish, whose congregation put on an impressive display on Sunday.
The feast is celebrated on the last Sunday in October, and flags lined the road outside St Anthony's Church.
Fr Bochkoltz said the purpose of the procession was to go outdoors to show - and share - their faith.
The feast day began with a solemn high mass, at which about 15 children made their first communion.
