Wanganui people can experience a virtual reality of their choice in Wanganui next week at the free Beyond Broadband Expo.
Competing with Prince Harry's visit to Wanganui on Thursday is the first day of a three-day expo on all things digital. It will be based in the Whanganui Ucol atrium, where people will have a chance to put on a headset and choose their own virtual reality experience.
The expo's many free workshops will be in Ucol classrooms. The ones on making your own online game and learning how to code are almost booked out already.
The expo's aim is to demystify ultrafast broadband and get people using it to full capacity. Whanganui Digital Leaders Forum chairwoman Annette Main is encouraging businesses, not-for-profit groups and individuals to make the most of it.
Thursday's focus is on health and education. Richard Fraser from Orion Health will talk about the consumerisation of health, and teachers get to hear about Pond, an online space reserved for them.
