Driver uninjured

The driver of a car that hit a fence at the corner of Wicksteed St and Glasgow St on Sunday afternoon was not injured. Police confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant of the car involved in the collision which occurred at around 4pm.

Condition still serious

A person remains in a serious condition in Wellington Hospital's intensive care unit following a fatal accident at a private property on Pukehou Rd in Bulls on July 9. Levi Dylan Goodwin (26), of Feilding, was killed and two people were injured when a sudden squall of wind toppled a tree and it fell on a vehicle at a forestry operation.

DairyNZ suggests farmers ask for an option that allows methane emissions to continue, at a lower rate, while reducing carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions to zero. Submissions close on July 19, and can be made on the Ministry for the Environment's website.

Iwi oppose mining

Taranaki tribes and Te Atiawa are all fundamentally opposed to seabed mining within their region. Each iwi opposed an application by Ironsands Offshore Mining to explore mineral possibilities offshore from New Plymouth, but the exploration permit was granted in May. The iwi say its area includes a marine mammal sanctuary and a mineral mining exclusion zone, and is also too close to marine reserves.

Tribute to aficionado

Boyes was the office manager for the Royal New Zealand Ballet. He loved Whanganui and had a special affection for the opera house, the audience was told.
