The Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board (WWCB) is hoping the Raetihi and Ohakune communities have plenty of bright ideas for how amenity lighting can help beautify their townships.
WWCB chairman Luigi Hotter said there was $5000 available for Raetihi and $9000 for Ohakune that had been allocated toward amenity lighting projects such as fairy lights, up-lights and spotlights.
"The community board would like suggestions on where new amenity lighting should be placed in both towns and the type of lighting that should be used," he said.
"Using fairy lights or up-lights in trees or spotlights to highlight architectural or other iconic features around a town can have a really amazing impact."
Hotter said the use of coloured lighting can also really add to the effect with modern LED lighting being able to change colour which would be great at different times of the year such as Matariki or Christmas.
