The men of Wanganui got into the spirit of things for Thursday's Mr Whanganui fundraiser, dressing up in their finest, or undressing down to their beach shorts ... or even trying drag.
They certainly gave it heaps as they tried to persuade evening shoppers in the central business district to donate to their chosen charities.
Almost $8000 was collected for good causes, with Wanganui Chronicle general manager Andy Jarden, based at Footloose, coming out on top with over $600 for Parkinson's NZ - a sum then boosted by the first prize of $500 from organisers Mainstreet Wanganui.
Parkinson's NZ Wanganui coordinator Dot Trail said she "never even dreamed that we'd win $1200". She said Mr Jarden gave her a "wonderful" foot massage during the fundraiser.
Marketing manager of Mainstreet Elise Goodge said no charity went home without having raised some money.
