A Whanganui resident who cares for his blind partner is overwhelmed by the community support.
Rod Anderson, 60, spent four hours collecting donations outside of the Victoria Ave New World last Saturday in a bid to raise funds and support for the local Blind Foundation.
"Whanganui is not a wealthy town, and a lot of us are living week to week, yet I found myself touched by the generosity of the people who live in our little slice of paradise," Anderson said.
He moved to Whanganui four years ago with his partner Rose Morgan who has been blind since she was 11.
"She had to learn everything all over again which was pretty tough but we moved down here from Auckland and the community support has been amazing."
