The son of the Wanganui woman who died in a cycling accident last week has spoken of his gratitude for the support his family has received since her death.
Donna Guy died when she fell off her bike after riding into a group of pedestrians on a walking track in Wanganui last week.
Her son, Matt Guy, said his mother would have been overwhelmed with the attention and the gestures of those close to her and the family.
"A big thank you from me and Mum's sisters to the wider Wanganui community for their support over this really trying time. At the moment I am getting the pieces of the puzzle and putting everything together."
Mr Guy said he had a special relationship with his mother, who he described as his best friend. "I could ring her at any time of the day or night and she would ring me back. We bounced ideas off each other, and I would ask her advice about basic things in my life, and she would talk to me about her's."
