Beers and Balladeers is a songwriting circle featuring Bill Hickman, Kim Bonnington, Cameron "Dusty" Burnell and Hamish Graham.
If the smokier, darker edge of alt-country is where you like to dwell, if Steve Earle or Ryan Adams feature heavily on your favourite playlist then it's time to meet Bill Hickman.
Hickman has a voice that has you coming back for more. Having sung in many a noisy bar he can belt it out with the best of them but he can equally deliver an achingly beautiful ballad.
Kim Bonnington has firmly established herself in the Wellington folk and country music scene as the girl with the golden country voice.
In 2016 she released and toured her self-titled debut EP of which Second Hand noted that "The songs sound like ones that we've heard before, or definitely should have, a testament to Kim's work with numerous bands and her ability to craft songs that sound like classics".
Cameron "Dusty" Burnell has clocked up a lot of miles touring around the country in various lineups including The Frank Burkitt Band, The T Bone Trio, Kim and Dusty, The Federal String Band and Anxiety Club.
Rated as one of NZ's best mandolin players, Burnell's fingers are known for their agility on a range of instruments.
