Bulls community information co-ordinator Jan Harris is thrilled on the community's behalf that a popular local picnic spot has been given a new lease of life.
On the banks of the Rangitikei River at the entrance of Bulls the area has been transformed by teams of community offenders.
Corrections districtmanager Hati Kaiwai said community work offenders complete projects like this with the intention of motivating them to make changes in their lives.
"They find positive ways to give back to their communities. This work also gives offenders an opportunity to take responsibility for their offending, while also learning new skills and work habits."
"In 2017 offenders managed by Feilding Community Corrections completed more than 16,100 hours of community work on projects like the one at Bulls."
