Three brave Wanganui teenage girls have so far raised more than $5000 for the Child Cancer Foundation - and all it cost them was their hair.
Eighteen-year-olds Olivia O'Neil and Grace Verhoek and 15-year-old Sophie Couper fronted up to a crowd of more than 100 people at Majestic Square on Saturday as hairdressers shaved off their locks for the cause. The Wanganui High School students decided to take part in the foundation's Funrazor campaign and set themselves a goal of $5000 or more.
"So far we've raised $5225 but we're still collecting money until the end of the week."
Classic Hits radio announcer Darryl Mallett went bald for the cause after pledging he would have his head shaved if they met their goal.
