They were the best team for three days and the Palmerston North Boys High senior boys proved it with a good 72-51 win over Wanganui Collegiate in the boys final of the Schick Central Secondary Schools Cup at Springvale Stadium on Friday.

PNBHS had run up some big scores on their way to the title game, but Collegiate coach Ross Cronshaw said he was happy with how his team performed for their first go at a tournament like this.

"[PNBHS] steadily got a lead.

"We played better in the second half, but they were the better team, had more depth."

Collegiate's Zachary Hill had a great tournament with several high scoring games, while Te Atawhai Mason and Will Stevenson were also strong performers.
