For almost 30 years Friends of the Whanganui River has published a Whanganui River Annual - a taonga of stories and history about New Zealand's third longest river.
On Saturday a complete collection of annuals will go under the hammer at a charity auction, run in conjunction with the Blue Duck Station at Whakahoro.
Auctioneer Dan Steele will conduct the auction to raise funds for conservation of endangered blue ducks, as well as Friends of the Whanganui River.
An eclectic array of 70 items will go under the hammer including accommodation packages, vouchers, and a guided tour for four people to Rewi Alley's cottage inland from Waverley.
Friend's committee spokesperson Jon Parson said the annual is the shining achievement of the group and that owning a complete set would be quite something, because future publications were not guaranteed.
