Whanganui artist Brit Bunkley's dystopian Ghost Shelter exhibition showing at the Sarjeant Gallery is the topic of this week's Art Fix.
Artist Tom Turner, a former student of Bunkley's, will host a friendly chat about the exhibition for a Sarjeant Gallery Art Fix session today.
"It is not a lecturebut an opportunity to talk about the work," said Turner.
"I'm the facilitator and I want to encourage discussion rather than lead it."
The three-dimensional models and video footage of Ghost Shelter are the culmination of a two-year project featuring abandoned buildings and mining sites Bunkley has visited in New Zealand and overseas. Cass Alexander first saw the exhibition while attending a meeting at the Sarjeant and says she been drawn back for repeated viewings.
"He has added the extra spooky to scenes that are already spooky," she said.
Bunkley has used drone footage to capture inaccessible features of the structures, allowing him to produce the sculptural models.
Art Fix: Ghost Shelter 2016-2018 - Thursday, August 9, 2pm at Sarjeant on the Quay, 38 Taupo Quay. Participants are encouraged to bring a pen, notebook and join Tom Turner for a cup of tea at Mud Ducks Cafe afterwards.
