As part of Patea Kindergarten's fundraising activities this year, the centre will hold an art auction on June 8 at the Patea Old Folks Association Hall.

Patea Kindergarten's parent-based committee raises between $10,000 and $14,000 each year to ensure the teaching team has the resources to provide a quality education for their children.

"This at times can be particularly hard for our small community," said Kate Murdoch, Patea Kindergarten committee member.

The event will also double as the 50th jubilee celebration for the kindergarten, which has been in operation since 1968.

The hope is to commemorate the integral role the kindergarten and its teaching team play within the community.
