A "conversation" between the Whanganui Regional Museum and a group of local artists was the catalyst behind the latest exhibition at Gallery On Guyton.
In Conversation opened on September 12 and runs until October 4. Artist and Gallery On Guyton owner, Rena Star, said a group of 11 artists had worked with a number of objects in the archives of the museum as part of the Puanga-Matariki celebrations.
The items included a moa skeleton, Maori fishing tools, bone pendants and flax paper.
"The exhibition is inspired by these chosen pieces.
"The art works in the exhibition range from one-off sketches made in-situ, to developed and completed art works, to the beginnings of forming and informing relational ideas, to a process of inspirations for future series of works exploring the "conversation" and extending the links," Ms Star said.
