An Anzac Day service will be held in the Mangapurua Valley (Bridge to Nowhere) to commemorate 100 years since the first of the returned servicemen took up their land holdings in the Mangapurua and Kaiwhakauka valleys.
The service at the Mangapurua Trig site will begin at 11am on April 25 with the unveiling of a memorial dedicated to their memory of the WWI soldiers and finish with a shared lunch.
All are welcome to the Anzac service and, if possible, bring some food to share.
Any descendants of the original settlers are asked to contact the organisers, Raewyn and Michael West on 07 895 7401 or after hours 07 895 6287, email westco@clear.net.nz.
