The driver of a car that hit an ambulance heading through a Wanganui intersection turned herself into police 20 minutes later.
The ambulance was heading down Guyton St through the intersection with St Hill St on Wednesday last week under lights and sirens when a car coming along St Hill St hit the back of it, bounced off, and continued driving away, witnesses said.
The car's number plate was knocked off in the impact and left behind at the scene, however.
Nobody was hurt in the crash.
Constable Trevor Scarrow said the driver of the car came into the police station 20 minutes after the incident to report it.
